Photographer Based in Richmond, VA

Dana has always been drawn to creativity, naturally called to the arts from an early age. She attended an art and design magnet high school in Miami, FL, where she studied art and fashion design, later graduating from FIT’s Jewelry Design Bench Jeweler program. She spent a decade working in the jewelry industry ( designing, carving wax models by hand, production, sales and running her own jewelry lines) finding joy in the meticulous, hands-on process.

Photography, however, was always in the background, quietly weaving its way through different phases of her life. After becoming a parent in 2020, the time and space for creative work became scarce. The demands of running a business while navigating stay-at-home motherhood during a pandemic felt overwhelming, leading her to close her jewelry line in 2021. Yet, in the midst of this transition, she found herself instinctively reaching for her camera. She began documenting her child, the quiet moments of home, the seemingly mundane but deeply meaningful rhythms of caregiving. She is driven to make the unseen labor of parenting visible, capturing the messy reality of family life. Her work embraces the beauty in imperfection, highlighting the deep, physical connections and intense closeness that define parenthood.

A deeply nostalgic person, Dana often feels a longing for the present even as she’s living it and is keenly aware of life’s fleeting nature and the desire to preserve it. Photography became more than just a creative outlet; it was a way to remind herself, amid postpartum anxiety and an evolving identity, that her life was beautiful as it is. She found magic in the everyday moments ( the repetition, the chaos, the stillness) and this perspective now shapes her work documenting other families.

Whether through her role as a doula or behind the lens, Dana is passionate about preserving the moments that might otherwise slip away.
